SBI PO

SBI PO, a national level exam is being conducted by State Bank of India for the recruitment of Probationary Officers. It is known for the most coveted job profile among other bank PO post where almost 20 Lakh students participate in the exam annually. Candidates who get selected after the final interview round, get the opportunity to work with SBI as a Probationary Officer (PO) in Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I). In 2018, total of 9.75 Lakh applications were received for the 2000 vacancies of SBI PO exam, which means around 500 applicants have competed for a single vacancy

  • After selection as Probationary Officer, candidates are placed in Junior Management Grade Scale-I.
  • They need to undergo a probation period of 1 year.
  • During this probation period, candidates undergo various training in order to learn practical aspects of banking.
  • The role of a PO is a multitasking job, it includes customer service, Supervision of Clerical work, loan processing etc.

After the end of the probationary period, candidates are posted as Assistant Managers in the bank branch. Next step of the promotion places them in Middle Management Grade Scale and one can even rise to the level of Chairman and Managing Director.

  • One of the most asked questions among students is the in-hand salary that they would receive as a probationary officer in SBI. The basic grade pay is Rs. 27620/– which is accompanied by 4 increments. Apart from this, the salary component involves other Allowances which is as follows:

  • Educational Qualification : Graduation Degree from a University recognized by the Government of India. Fair knowledge of computer is must.
  • Age Eligibility                         : Minimum age is 21 years and maximum age is 30 years as on Apr, 2019. 
  • Nationality / Citizenship of Applicants : Candidates applying for SBI PO Examination should be one of the following:
                 1. Citizen of India
                 2.  Citizen of Bhutan/Nepal/Bangladesh with a valid certificate by Indian govt.
  • Age Relaxation :
                 1.  4% horizontal reservation has been provided to Persons with Benchmark Disabilities
                 2. There is an age- relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST/EXSM.
                 3.  3 years for OBC whereas 10 years for PWDs.

  • Just like last year, this time SBI PO recruitment has come up with the following major changes:
                        1. The sectional marking scheme has been defined this time for the SBI PO Mains 2019 exam
                        2. The sectional time limit has been introduced for each section in SBI PO Prelims exam
                        3. There is no sectional cut off for SBI PO Preliminary as well as Mains exams. The final selection of the candidates
                             will be based on their performance in each phase of the exam
                       4. SBI has increased the application fees for General/EWS and OBC from ₹ 600 to ₹ 750, while for SC/ST/PWD it is ₹ 125
  • The registration process for SBI PO 2019 has been concluded on 22nd April 2019.
              1. Visit official site’s https://bank.sbi/careers or https://www.sbi.co.in/careers
              2. Go to the “Click here for New Registration”
              3.  Enter your valid details such as Name, Email ID & Contact Number.
              4.  Now click on “Submit”.
              5.  You will get a Registration Number and Password on the screen.
              6.  Upload your scanned signature and photograph.
              7. Enter your personal details as per educational certificate.
              8.  Now pay application Fee via debit card/credit card/internet banking.
              9.  The final step is to check the details and save the copy of SBI PO form.
            10. Download it for future reference.

  • The application fee/intimation charges are different for different categories. This year SBI has increased the application fees structure for various categories. Below you can find the category-wise application fee required for SBI PO 2019 application form.
  • Application fee for General and OBC candidates is Rs. 750 and application fee of Rs. 125 for SC, ST and Ex-S candidates.
  • From 2018 onward, there will be no sectional cutoff in the exam of SBI PO 2019 recruitment. The final selection will be based on the  performance in the online test.   • Only candidates opted for pre-training in the application form, will be eligible for the same
  • Pre-exam training is an orientation program which helps the candidates with their preparation, who can’t enroll to coaching centers
  • The Pre-exam training call letters will be available to download from 2nd week of May 2019 onward

  • SBI has now issued the SBI PO Mains admit card on its official site. You can download it through the link shared above or from the official website of SBI. Moreover, you can check out the steps below to download the SBI PO admit card without any hassle.
                     1. Visit the official site of State Bank of India.
                     2. Click on the “SBI PO 2019 Recruitment”.
                     3. Click on the admit card link.
                     4. Enter the valid details such as registration number & password i.e. date of birth.
                     5. Now click on the “Submit” button.
                     6. You SBI PO admit card 2019 will appear on the screen.
                     7. Verify the details mentioned on the admit card & download it.
  • Note: Please note that the admit card is a mandatory document & required to carry along in the examination hall. In case the candidates fail to produce the admit card during the examination, he/she will not be allowed to appear for the examination.
