SSC CHSL 2019 will be conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) every year to select eligible candidates for various posts such as DEO, Postal Assistant, LDC and Sorting Assistant. Every year, a large number of eligible candidates give this examination with a sole dream to join Central Government body and avail all the perks imparted to them by the Government of India.SSC releases the SSC CHSL recruitment notification for various vacancies in  Ministries/  Departments/ Organizations of Government of India. Every year the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the Combined Higher Secondary Level- CHSL, 10+2 Exam for various positions like:

  •  Postal Assistants/Sorting Assistants or PA/SA
  • Data Entry Operator or DEO
  • Lower Divisional Clerk or LDC
  •  Court Clerk
  • If you have the potential to crack the SSC CHSL exam, you will be recruited as Lower Division Clerk (LDC), Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), Postal Assistant, Sorting Assistant, Data Entry Operator (DEO) and Court Clerk, depending on the posts you have applied for.
    A Lower Division Clerk (LDC) can climb up the career ladder as an Assistant Upper Division Clerk, Division Clerk and Section Officer, while a Data Entry Operator (DEO) can get promoted as Data Entry Operator Grade B, Data Entry Operator Grade C, and Data Entry Operator Grade F (System Analyst).   • Data Entry Operator (DEO):
    Less work pressure: If you are concerned about too much work pressure then you must opt for a data entry operator. This is quite a peaceful job with least work pressure.
    First promotion after SAS Exam: Once you complete 2 years of employment on the same pay-scale, you will be eligible for departmental exam i.e. SAS Exam. Although cracking SAS exam takes a lot of hard work, you will end up getting a handsome promotion.
    Promotion after every 10 years: As per the MACP rules, you will get the promotion after every ten years.

  • Postal Assistant:
    Highest paid job profile: Under this job-profile, you can get the highest grade-pay of 6600. In addition, you will get timely promotion as per the MACP guidelines.
    Fastest career growth: Initially, you will be on 2400 grade pay but later after 3 years you will be promoted to grade-II assistant
    After Tenure of 8 years: After completion of 8 years, you will be promoted to grade-III assistant.

  • Lower Division Clerk (LDC) Salary/ Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA):
    Promotion to Upper Division Clerk: A lower division clerk has to work on the same pay-scale for 5 to 7 years to be eligible for promotion to Upper Division Clerk (UDC).
    UDC Exam: For UDC, an eligible employee also needs to pass the UDC exam, conducted by Staff Selection Commission.
    Timely promotion: An employee working as an LDC will get timely promotion as per the MACP rules. The highest-level position is a Section Officer for an employee starting career as an LDC.

  • Court Clerk:
    Timely promotion: Starting your career as an Assistant Clerk will put you in the administrative department. With experience, you will gradually get promoted to Senior Clerk, Head Clerk, and then finally Office Superintendent.
    Maximum Grade pays 4800: By the time you retire, your Grade pay will rise up to 4800 on average. Though a number of vacancies play a significant role in promotion.

The candidate appearing for SSC CHSL must fulfill the eligibility criteria given below:

  • Nationality:
  1.  Candidates applying for SSC CHSL 2019 must be citizen of India
  2.  Candidates from Nepal, Bhutan and Tibetan refugee are also eligible subject to fulfilment of eligibility criteria as mandated by Government of India
  • Educational qualification:
  1.  Must have passed 10+2/HSC or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University
  • Age Limit:
  1.   Maximum: 27 years

SSC CGL 2019 Application form will be made available in October 2019 and would continue till November 2019. Candidates can fill the form in online mode only by visiting the official portal (different for different regions) of SSC.

  • Candidates need to register by entering his/her e-mail ID, phone number and password.
  • A registration number will be issued.
  •  Use this registration number and password to login.
  •  Fill the detailed application form and upload scanned photograph and signature as per the dimensions mentioned in the JPEG format. 
  • After successfully filling and uploading, you are required to pay application fees. 
  • SSC CHSL application fee 2019 for unreserved male candidates is INR 100 while female and reserved category candidates are exempted from any fee.
  • Since the SSC CHSL is comprised of 3 different levels, we must deal with their syllabus independently.
    This is an objective exam which will be conducted online. There are 4 sections in the Tier 1 exam of SSC CHSL 2019, with 100 questions which account for a total of 200 marks. The subject-wise details are given below:

Important Points:

  • There is negative marking in SSC CHSL 2019 Tier 1 Exam. Giving a wrong answer to a question will lead to a penalty of 0.5 marks in all sections
  • The exam duration is 80 minutes for candidates who are visually handicapped.

This is a descriptive exam that is designed to test the written skills of the candidates in English/Hindi. The Paper would comprise writing of an Essay of 200-250 words and Letter/Application writing of approximately 150-200 words. The minimum qualifying marks in Tier-II would be 33 per cent. The performance in Tier II would be included for preparing merit. The best way to prepare for the same is to read lots of articles from various newspapers. Apart from this, you need to be well aware of the pattern of Letter and Application.
Important Points:

  • The exam is of 60 minutes’ duration and carries 100 marks.
  • The questions are based on 10 level.
  • The exam is qualifying in nature.
  • Part paper written in Hindi and Part in English will not be evaluated.
  • The exam duration is 80 minutes for candidates who are visually handicapped or suffer from cerebral palsy.

The Tier 3 of SSC CHSL Exam 2019 comprises of a couple of skill tests which are required for certain government posts.


Skill Test for Data Entry Operator(DEO):

  • Data Entry Speed of 8,000 (eight thousand) Key Depressions per hour on Computer.
  •  The duration of the Test will be 15 (Fifteen) minutes .

Typing Test for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant LDCs and Court Clerks:

  • Typing Test will be conducted in English or Hindi and candidates while applying for the Examination, will have to indicate his/her choice/option for Skill Test Medium in the Application Form.
  • Typing Test will be of qualifying in nature.
  •  It will be administered on the Computer, to be provided by the Commission or any agency authorized by the Commission.
  • Candidates opting for English medium should have typing speed of 35 words per minute.
  •  Candidates opting for Hindi medium should have typing speed of 30 words per minute.
  • The speed will be adjudged on the accuracy of typing on the Computer of a given text passage in 10 minutes.
  • Visually Handicapped candidates (with 40% disability and above) will be allowed 30 minutes.

Note: After skill test or typing test, those candidates who qualify it, will be appointed based on their position in the merit list.
